Online edition of the American TV news recently warmly praised our country. The author listed 11 things travelers should definitely know about Hungary. It's got a few clichés, but pertinent insights as well.

Let see the 11 things why the CNN recommends Hungary..

The lake, also known as the Hungarian Sea,  is about 80 km long and occupies approximately 600 square kilometers. The lake is a favorite holiday destination for Hungarians , especially the southern coast , mainly Siofok, which is the party center for young people. The annual summer music festival - Balaton Sound - is held in  Zamárdi, on the south coast as well. However, families with children prefer the quiet north shore .

Hungary has a huge reserve of hot water . More than 1,000 natural water springs can be found in the country ( and the world's largest thermal lake in Hévíz, next to the lake Balaton ) , 118 of them in Budapest. Located on the Pest side of the capital can be found the Szechenyi Thermal Bath, Europe 's largest thermal bath. Another nice thermal bath is located at the foot of Gellert Hill, the  Gellért Bath and Hotel.

Hungary is one of the countries listed in the highest position in terms of Nobel prizes :  13 Nobel Laureates from 1905 until 2004. In addition, the Hungarians invented or based a lot of things , from the ball pen ( inventor László Bíró ) through informatics ( Janos Neumann ), to the Rubik's cube. As State Secretary Zoltan Cséfalvay recently said: "I am very proud to say that Hungarians invented everything ." Of course he was joking . By and large...

The composer has a big role in the life of the Hungarians (although born in Austri , spoke German and French, no Hungarian, and died in Germany ) , the Budapest International Airport was renamed Liszt Ferenc Airport on the composer's 200th birthday in 2011. Why? The village where Liszt was born was a Hungarian village at the time when he declared himself Hungarian. After Liszt Ferenc a sqare was also named in Budapest, where there are trendy cafes and restaurants.

After forty years of communism, Hungarians became experts in exploiting loopholes . They are the only ones who go into a revolving door behind you and still come out ahead. They have an opinion about everything, so much so that as they say , when you are closed in a room with three Hungarians, four political parties will be formed.

Unlike Western restaurants in Hungary the goulash is not a stew, but a soup. Everyone can show their best recipes in the Goulash Festival , which is held in every September in Szolnok. The best goulash in Budapest is available in one of the most well-known restaurants , the Gundel , and the other ( same owner as Gundel but this one rather focuses  on the flavors,)  in the Owl Castle.

Hungarian cuisine has an only element that is present in every kitchen , from grandmother's kitchen to the first Michelin star restaurant, the Costes, and this is the peppers. The grounded pepper is used to flavor almost every dish , the goulash soup as well. The national news highlighted the late October announcement by Univer that the pepper -based spices continue to be 100 percent produced from Hungarian pepper, despite the poor harvest of Hungarian peppers.

Walk through Budapest and you'll hear the clink of beer glasses. When the Hungarians lost in the 1848-49 's war of independence , the Austrians executed 13 Hungarian generals, and then presumably  drank beer and clinked glasses. The Hungarians therefore boycotted this kind of toast in the next 150 years. Since 1999 , however, the tables were turned, now only the older generation refrain from this type of toast .

Sweet completion of each meal! Tokaji is so fine that XIV. Louis King of France named it the wine of kings , the king of wines . If you wish to bring home a bottle of delicious sweet dessert wine, check out the Wine Society , who have many stores in Budapest and across the country. The Tokaj wine is classified on the basis of its sweetness and categorized into one of the butts . The best, the most expensive  and one of the rarest Tokaj wine is the Essence of Tokaj.

Hungarians love sports and are very proud of the fact that Hungary has the most Olympic medals in respect of country / person ( a total of 482 medals in the Winter and Summer Olympics ). . The Hungarians are very good in swimming, fencing, gymnastics, kayak, but the men's water polo team is exceptional - when they play all Hungarians watch the television screen. If you want to feel how much Hungarians love sports, be sure to go to the Pest Champs sports bar , but it is usually full at major sporting events.

The Hungarians arrived on horseback to the Carpathians and are still horse lovers . The word hussar became an English word because of the reputation of the Hungarian hussars. The current horse driving world champions are the Lazar brothers who have regular presentations at their Lazar Equestrian Park , in Domonyvölgy , 35 km from Budapest. The country has many places where you can take riding lessons or just take a ride . It is a good choice for horse lovers to visit the Godollo Hilltop Farm to relax and enjoy.
